NEWS... Shows n'at.

Well, I was sitting here killing time while waiting to leave for practice, so I thought I'd let everyone know what was going on in the world of DCD.

We have a show coming up this Saturday (October 3rd) at The Fallout Shelter in 'Quippa with our friends Children of October, as well as two NYC bands, Up For Nothing and Step Aside. Both are a little on the poppier side of punk, but we won't hold that against 'em (haha). Step Aside has kinda like a Ten Foot Pole/Pulley style sound, Up For Nothing is a little more Ramones-core. Any way, come on out if you don't have anything more important to do. Should be fun.

We're also gonna be doing a benefit for the New Castle Police's K9 Unit on the 18th at The Ranch in Shenango. This is NOT a "benefit for the police", not that we would really give a shit if it was, but stop sending us stupid messages. We're not anti-police or anti-authority, so save it. The cops aren't our enemy... CORRUPT POLICE are, but not ALL POLICE. We're down with law and order, and if you got something to say come to a show and we can talk about it. I'm pretty sure we can all say, yes, there are people in uniform who abuse their power and give their profession a bad name (we all heard a little about that in Pittsburgh this past week!), but not all cops are bullies itchin' to fuck someone up.

Furthermore, this is a police dog benefit. We're doing a benefit for police dogs, not cops. Puppies. Cute, cuddly puppies. Well, okay, I'm sure to most people, these creatures are scarier than the police officers themselves, but keep in mind that they aid in finding:

  • Missing persons
  • Abducted children
  • Murderers
  • Massive amounts of drugs, like crack and heroin
  • Bombs
  • Etc.

These are all very good reasons to have a K9 unit handy. Lastly, one of these dogs has a serious pancreatic condition, and part of the money raised will be used for his medicine. Like I said, if you got a problem, let us know.

Second of all, and this is just for my own clarification, this event is ALL AGES. We've been pulling really hard to get more all ages shows booked, and this will be one of them. So anyone who's been too young to see us play before, come on out, we're looking forward to finally meeting you.

This is a battle of the bands, but we're not expecting to win, nor are we gonna be too upset if we don't. We're notoriously AGAINST battles, but this is also a friendly one, at a benefit show, so it's all good. If we, by some miracle, DO win, we would get a backdrop with our logo, as well as some quick cash to use for DCD merchandise like t-shirts and buttons. The winner is NOT decided by ticket sales, how many people are there to support you and cheer really loudly, etc. There will be a panel of judges (who probably won't get what we're doing anyway) to decide the winner. We'll probably be the only band doing anything similar to, umm... what we do, so if you're into punk or Oi!, come and show your support.

We're playing a Halloween bash/costume party at the Fallout Shelter on October 31st (the day after Halloween) with Trestle Jumper, Children of October, Fullmoon Renegades, and a couple others, so put on your best ghoul face and come have some spooky beers with us.

We'll also be hosting an all day, all ages variety extravaganza at St. Marguerite Beneficial Mutual Society in Mahoningtown, New Castle, PA on November 7th, with Fillmore Jive and a slew of others. Contact any of the bands for an advance ticket. It's only 8 bucks, and all the money will go to pay for the cost of renting the hall, paying Hutch for his services as sound guy, as well as paying the bands. It's gonna be a great time, and it's all local music, so get your ticket soon. You won't be disappointed, promise. See ya soon.
